Andrew :

I received the ROBOT ring today. I must admit tho I had one about 10 years ago that I won at glenelg and it felt a bit better than this one being as it was hand made. This one feels very sharp and square with a few burrs around the edges.

I can't believe after all these years I still remember how to assemble it.

Jeff :

Hey Andrew

It's small-world time.

But first, let me demonstrate my psychic powers to you.

Peering into my crystal ball, I can see that you were at the weekend market that used to happen in Mosely Square during summer when you won this puzzle ring that you mention. And a most splendid ring it is, too.

In fact, you were responding to a sign saying “Solve this puzzle and get a free ring”. You did solve the puzzle, and the stall-holder had no option but to honour his foolish offer.

Also, I can see that although he appeared to take this set-back in good spirits, he was inwardly cursing you for having so easily solved a puzzle that he had created specifically so as NOT to have to pay out at all, which meant that he would have to go back to the drawing board for another attempt to create the unsolvable puzzle ring.

This stall-holder eventually left Oz, his departure hastened by the demise of the Glenelg Market, and ended up in Thailand. As always, he continued playing around with his beloved puzzle rings, and eventually his wife learned the necessary skills to be able to set up a website so they could sell online, also offering his creations on Etsy and eBay Australia.

Which is how our paths have crossed again.

I'm glad that after all this time I finally got some money out of you!

One thing though, I know the edges of Robot are sharp when the ring is apart, because I deliberately left them that way, but I would be disappointed if there were any burrs or sharp edges detectable when it is together.

Do you still have your prize?

Andrew :

I sure do. I have given it to my son as I told him the day that he solved it he could have it.

In reference to the sharpness it is just not as rounded as my other one.. But this may be because of the factor we call time. I do love it.

Glad to see I could still find you... Even if you aren't in Australia anymore.
